Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse

We've been introduced to Peter Parker many times in previous films such as the "Spider-Man" (2002) trilogy, "The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and "Spider-Man: Homecoming (2016) as well as numerous television series. This year, we have been introduced to a new spidey, Miles Morales. What allows this movie to stand out from other origin stories of the friendly neighborhood hero, besides the main character difference, is the style it is told in. Animation. And yes, this is an origin story of Miles Morales, but through the storyline, we're introduced to other versions of Spider-Man.

One aspect of the movie that grasped me immediately, was the homage to comic books throughout. "Into the Spider-verse" is basically a virtual comic book. The team incorporated the pop art style of comics, the panneling of various scenes, as well as the "THWIP" BOOM!" "POP!" BANG!" you would see throughout action scenes. It holds no punches with the use of color from the multiple suits to the lights and intensity of the city.

Like I said, this movie IS about Miles Morales and his journey into becoming "Spider-Man" but because of a glitch in the universe, five other spider-people from alternate dimension help Miles defeat Kingpin in order to balance the universe. Peter B. Parker, Gwen Stacy, Peni Parker, Spider-Man Noir, and ... Peter Porker (Spider-Ham). We get backgorunds of the other spider people as well, but we see how they contribute to help shape Miles into his character instead of figuring in out on his own.

Overall, I absolutely loved this movie! Its one of my favorite Spider-Man stories on the big screen. The style is captivating. THE SOUNDTRACK IS AMAZING! Just a great time from beginning to end. You fall in love with Miles and his life and the other spider people warm your heart. There were a couple of plot twists that I DID NOT see coming which added to the attraction of the story. Sony can definitely go far with this new concept and opens a lot of doors for future movies in my opinion. I 100% recommend this movie! 10/10 a must see. In theaters now.

If you've seen the movie, who was your favorite character and/or scene? Let me know! Thanks for reading!
