Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Review

Most people know about Sabrina the Teenage Witch. There have been numerous shows and animations regarding the teenage witch and her magical mishaps. But, this Netflix original is nothing like how we've seen the beloved Sabrina in the past. Now ... if you are not fond of the idea of witches, warlocks, dark magic, and ... talk of the devil, this show is probably not for you. As I said, this adaptation of Sabrina is none like you've seen before.

Sabrina Spellman is a half-witch half-mortal with whole teenager problems. Living with her aunts, Hilda and Zelda, as well as her cousin on "house arrest" Ambrose, Sabrina has to make the decision to either become full mortal or full witch on her 16th birthday. Facing the troubles of deciding, Sabrina tries to remain positive and share equal loyalty to both sides- but she can't. Having to balance to evils of the Dark Lord, fitting in with her coven, trying to hold on to her relationship with Harvey Kinkle, and enjoy her time with her best friends, she tries her absolute best to accommodate all people,

The minute I finished the first episode I was hooked. I enjoyed watching the various adventures Sabrina had to encounter from saving friends, to even screwing up miserably. In this 10 episode series, I can say it was packed with great writing and well developed character arcs, and plenty of plot twists. I really enjoyed how they executed the ability to include multiple storylines and make them all equally interesting. With each character, I got 100% invested in each of their issues and storylines. Not once did one seem dragged out or became forgettable. The dark tone and lighting of the show truly bring out the suspense and "horror" of the show. Although it is not scary or has jump scares, they sure know how to make it dark and 'chilling'

Also while watching, I noticed the name of the town is Greendale, and they often mention their neighbor town, Riverdale. I found it interesting that Archie and the gang are in the same universe of Sabrina. Interesting factoid.

On December 14, there will be a Christmas special airing on Netflix, titled "A Midwinter's Tale".Be sure to check it out and be on a lookout for another review.

Thank you and can't wait to see you next time on Chilling with Ash!
